aw, i really love that people are still discovering and enjoying the oc after all these years! the oc was a big part of my teenage years and it makes me happy that current teenagers, like yourself, are still watching and loving it. the main reason we run this blog is to keep the oc alive in any way we can so you’re welcome and thank you for the nice words!
aw, thank you so much! i’m so sorry for the delay in responding to this, i hope it reaches you before your trip! almost all of the oc was filmed in los angeles, not orange county, to lower production costs. this site has identified pretty much all of the filming locations; however, many of them are very makeshift and not concrete places you can visit. but i would suggest looking through those because there should definitely be at least a couple cool filming spots to check out. good luck!
unfortunately, we don’t have all the screen caps from the oc. i mostly have either a few screen caps from my favorite episodes to make picspams or tons of caps from particular scenes to make gifs. screen capping is extremely time consuming and somewhat of an acquired skill so i’m sorry but that is definitely not an endeavor i’m willing to take on. i would encourage you to contact screen cap sites and make requests there. good luck!
i’m the same way, i remember watching it in middle school and now i’m in college and i still love it (and miss it a lot!). aw thank you, that is so sweet and you’re very welcome! you’re right, i don’t think i would be interested in a reunion movie without marissa (and one with her couldn’t plausibly happen). maybe someday the cast will have a reunion photoshoot or something! my favorite season is season 1; quality wise i think it was by far the best season and the show just seemed to go down hill from there. thanks again!
thank you, that’s a very sweet compliment that we really appreciate! personally, i really like the finale episode. i didn’t like a lot of the season 4 story lines and the parts of the episode spent wrapping those up i don’t particularly enjoy. however, i love the cohens moving back to berkeley and i love julie deciding not to get married. i think the moments where marissa is remembered (first by julie and summer at the wedding and then by ryan when he’s leaving the oc) are really beautiful and well done. the scene where ryan is walking through the cohen’s empty house, remembering his first days there, and then driving away and remembering meeting marissa is one of my all time favorite scenes and it never fails to make me cry. and then i really really love the final music coda/flash forward. the song is so fitting and i think it was an absolutely perfect way to end the show and it’s great to know all the characters ended up happy, in a mostly realistic way. i think the final shot of ryan approaching the boy who looks troubled is somewhat corny but it really brought the series full circle, which is nice. overall, i really love the series finale; the only thing that would’ve made it better for me was if marissa had been alive! thanks again :)
feel free to send in any requests you have! we can’t guarantee it will be made but it will definitely be taken into consideration.
aw thank you! we really appreciate it and you’re welcome :)
according to google, neither of them have verified twitter accounts.
i have no idea as to the inner workings of their relationship but according to wikipedia, they broke up in december 2006 which was around the time the oc season 4 wrapped. if i had to speculate i would guess that their relationship succeeded because they were working closely together but they drifted apart when shooting other projects after the oc ended. this blog is about the show and not the personal relationships of the actors so i’d prefer not to speculate any further.
I prefer Ryan and Marissa in the first sense simply because they caught my attention in that first scene and I was invested since then and even when Seth and Summer happened, they couldn’t engage me in the way Ryan and Marissa could. For me, Ryan and Marissa are simply the more compelling story. Ben and Mischa’s chemistry for one thing is brilliant (there’s always an underlying sexual tension with their scenes, even when they’re friends you get the feel that no, these aren’t just friends) and that’s probably a huge reason their scenes are so compelling to watch. I’m glued to their cuter moments or their steamier moments because it feels so real and natural.
The next bit is probably what sets them apart most from Seth and Summer (in sometimes good and sometimes bad way) - they have angst. Sometimes the drama is a pain to watch, like with Oliver and Johnny, but then in the other moments it adds to their journey and it’s hard to explain but as a viewer, I almost get more hooked. It’s not set in stone that they’ll end up together; it’s a little turbulent so every moment matters so much and in comparison Seth and Summer had a light relationship. I understand why people completely love the cuteness of Seth and Summer, because they are cute, but that’s all they are to me. Ryan and Marissa on the other hand inspire all these feelings in me, probably because they had so many facets to them. There is a depth in their relationship that Seth and Summer don’t seem to possess to the same extent, at least for me.
Ryan and Marissa are a love story and it is a real journey with them. Once you’re drawn into that journey, it’s hard not to embrace how deeply these two love each other and there is all this crazy stuff along the way and it’s irritating at times but at the end of day, you’re only left rooting for them even more.
